Bling It On

Diamonds are a girls best friend’ ‘

April’s birthstone is the White Diamond (I’m lucky enough to be an April baby) and the White Diamond is statistically the most popular engagement ring stone of choice; but for some extra sparkly brides, the bling doesn’t end with their engagement ring but instead extends throughout their entire wedding.

So let’s Bling It On!

In the designer dress department, the *undisputed* queen of bling is  Pnina Tornai, you might recognize her namesake from a little show called “Say Yes To The Dress”. Her gowns are swathed in swarovski crystals which are usually laid upon a sheer corset, most certainly not for the most demure of brides.

A blinged out wedding would not be complete without some centerpiece bling, I am in LOVE with these hanging crystal centerpieces!

Bling is never in short supply if you just have the right inspiration.

Blinged out cake anyone? It’s too pretty too eat!

For me, personally, I am not completely sold on the idea of an ‘all white’ wedding. I love a good pop of color or a nice cohesive color palette. If you are an April bride don’t be afraid to add some color to your bling, or some bling to your color.

While some bling is sure to creep it’s way into your big day, I absolutely love a blinged out frame to hold a cherished picture in.

Are you a bold ‘Bling It On’  type of bride or is ‘Bling Not My Thing’?

Disney Wedding Gowns

Hi Lovebirds! You may have noticed by my last post that I was in dire need of a ‘time out’.

When you live in Florida there is no better way to take a time out than with a weekend trip to Disney (which is only a three hour drive)!! It was a glorious weekend and I even had the pleasure of seeing a bride being whisked away to the Disney Wedding Pavilion in the Grand Floridian; which is where we spent our stay in between visiting the Magic Kingdom.

About a week and a half prior MAC launched a limited edition Cinderella line of products; it is still beyond me how I did NOT know about this line until it sold out 24 hours later, yes, it sold out in 24 hours! Sad face…., and the new Cinderella movie premiered in the box offices over the weekend. In addition to cable running The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, The Princess and The Frog and the original Cinderella, all back to back, phew! That’s a lot of Disney!

With all this Disney inspiration swirling about I thought it would be fun to do a Disney Princess Wedding Gown post. I previously featured the newest edition to the Disney Princess’s on this post but thought it might be fun to revisit some more looks.

I have to be a somewhat predictable and first do a Cinderella Disney Wedding Dress Round Up! How beautiful is the Disney Wedding Gown on the far left by designer Zuhair Murad? Love it!

I love the bride who went viral with her real life adaptation of Princess Ariel on her wedding day. Oh boy if I could pull off that red hair, it’d be perfect for our future beach wedding! hehe

Nothing was more magical than the moment Princess Tiana looked down and realized she was no longer a frog and was wearing the most gorgeous Disney Wedding Gown ever. My new favorite Disney Wedding Gown for sure, sorry Cinderella!

Could you dare to live out your Disney Fairy Tale on your wedding day with a Disney Wedding Gown or other Disney touches?

Spring Wedding Gown Inspiration

“Floral’s? For Spring?…… Ground breaking…..”

That is my absolute best Miranda Priestly impression by way of  “The Devil Wears Prada”, though you have to admit her character did have a point. Floral’s are always prevalent in Spring Fashions every year, every where. That’s not to say that it can’t be switched up, I loved when Dolce & Gabbana used fresh floral’s in their models hair for a runway show.

Have you ever been to a wedding that didn’t have some type of flower(s)? Bouquets, Boutonniere’s, Centerpieces, Aisle Decor and so on and so forth. I thought a nice takeaway for some spring wedding gown inspiration might be pastels; also not entirely ground-breaking, but when is the last time you knew a bride that wore a pastel gown with barely there hues? HA! Precisely my point.

So let’s do a spring wedding gown inspiration ‘round-up‘ of pastels, shall we?

I have had a love affair with this Peach Lazaro gown since I saw a bride purchase it on “Say Yes to The Dress”. The chunky jeweled detail belt is the perfect compliment to this Spring Gown

This mint beauty by designer Karen Caldwell has also made the Spring Inspiration Gown round-up. How beautifully would this gown pop amongst an all white wedding? All eyes would divert directly to the bride.

This wedding gown entitled ‘Dori’ by designer Hayley Paige is to die for! I am trying to convince my bestie to wear this for her upcoming nuptials, as soon as this spring wedding gown hit my radar I text her a picture of it. I have featured Hayley Paige on the blog before and I just love her designs!! I love her ability to take a traditional wedding gown and give it that special bit of flare to take it outside the box.

Evidently Christian Siriano designed a bridal gown back in 2013 and I have been (apparently) living under a rock until now, because I had no clue about it what so ever. I cried when he cried on Project Runway right before they announced him as the winner, I did!!! He is by far my favorite Project Runway alum of all time, it was so amazing to see all of his fruitless efforts pay off in the end, especially now that we have this violet Spring Wedding Gown to gawk at!

This gorgeous subdued Blush gown by Tara Keely has been on watch since Sweets proposed to me. I am DYING to try this on, this is the gown I see myself getting married in for our beach side vows. The lace bodice coupled with the overflowing blush tulle is so romantic, no shoes required, I’ll take it!

So Lovebirds, colored gowns?

“I’d give it a go” or “Never in a million years”?

February’s Wedding Dress Pick – The Final Cut

Did you catch the Oscar’s over the weekend Love Birds? I have to say my absolute favorite gown of the evening was Lupita Nyong’o’s.. how flawless does she look in everything?! I can’t even fathom how long it took to get those pearls on her dress; AH-mazing! I, sadly, lost the battle of TV in our house last night, it was me versus two main contender’s so all of my Oscar’s catch-up was done via Instagram, FaceBook & Yahoo.

This week wraps up our final pick for the month of February, from a designer known for down-to-there low back gown’s, Galia Lahav

The bead work on Lupita’s dress inspired me to choose a gown with just as much attention to detail. From the Galia Lahav ‘Tales of The Jazz Age’ collection, I give you the Katharina, complete with silver glass beads and a back cut so low your mother-in-law is sure to faint! I love the patterning of the bead work on the back of this gown coupled with the sheer train, it really completes that 1920’s jazz age feeling.

This gown would be perfectly completed by an up-do with an oversize flower.

If you really wanted to throw all decadence to the wind, and commit to the jazz age look, you can add a few strands of long, knotted pearl necklaces, you know, just because!

And of course, your look wouldn’t be complete with any shoe other than a T-Strap!!

I’m always a sucker for a T-Strap, it must be from my former life as a tap-dancer!!

I am curious to weigh in on the great debate of wearing a sexy gown for your wedding day, what do you think Love Birds? Yay or Nay?

February’s Wedding Dress Pick – Third Edition

It’s time for this week’s dress pick Love Birds! Truth be told, I wanted to bring this dress pick to you last night but had a massive headache (ugh!) that I could not push through, but I’m back in action now!!

I had this week’s pick cataloged. I’ve seen this dress a few times in passing and knew I was going to feature it ; ) This dress speaks to 1950’s simplistic glamour, but the designer’s name is note worthy as well; this week’s pick comes to you from: House of Mooshki

House of Mooshki touts their line of tea-length gowns as well as bespoke tea-length gowns, all of which are vintage inspired. They even have a non-tea length wedding gown called ‘Jacqueline’, it’s not hard to guess where the inspiration was drawn from for that dress!!

I was originally going to wait for Spring to feature a tea-length wedding dress, heck it’s ‘Spring’ here in South Florida and all the New Englander’s are wishing for Spring, so why not?! I love the feel of this dress, it transports me to an era of Pompadours and Pink Ladies. There is a simplistic no-fuss type of elegance to a tea-length dress that cannot be attained with a full ball gown. My favorite way to complete this look… shoes!! A tea-length dress is one you can most certainly go shoe-crazy with as they won’t be hidden under a full skirt. I also love the idea of pairing a tea-length dress with a bird cage veil. If you’re a DIY bride I’m sure a simplistic bird cage veil would be easy enough to whip up!

Traditionally tea-length dresses are paired with day time affairs, so be sure to keep that in mind if you’re leaning towards this length for your wedding.

Have you tried on a tea-length gown in your search for the perfect dress?

Valentine’s Day Wedding Gown

Happy (almost over) Monday Lovebirds! Valentines day is at the end of the week and I can just smell the red roses and taste the conversation hearts now!

Last week I talked about being inspired from the previews of Paris Fashion Week, which led me to the decision of writing about one dress pick per week for the month of February.

When I think of Valentine’s Day, without a doubt, the color red comes to mind. I’m sure that has to do with my past employment history at the party supply store… hours and hours of Valentine’s Day would be spent incessantly blowing up red foil heart balloons. Yes, exactly what a single girl in her twenties dreams of!

Red balloons, red roses, red candles, red heart chocolate boxes… Red, red, RED!

It would only be fitting that this week’s Valentine’s Day dress pick would be a red gown. In the words of Anthony Marentino “….you want wedding, you go Wang…..”

The structured one shoulder ‘Kirsten’ is from the Vera Wang Bridal Collection Spring 2013. I am loving the back view of this gown, the structured silhouette mimics that of a rose. GORGEOUS!! I see this paired with an all white rose bouquet. How beautiful would those pure white roses look against the rich color of this gown?!

CNN Reports an average of 6 million people expect or are planning a marriage proposal on Valentine’s Day! My Sweets proposed to me last year on February 15th (we had to break with convention) on the same beach which we met, and hope to be married on in the future, that to me is pure romance.

How are you spending your Valentine’s Day Lovebirds? Any special plans with your sweetie?
